I love the quality of this light but when it's been on for only a few minutes, it get's very hot. You cannot touch the shade at this point. Also, the heat that radiates down from the light is hot. We are very careful when it is on making sure the bulb does not come in contact with the sofa or pillows. It would definately cause a fire.

My old reading lamps died and I feared I would never find something as perfect but alas these are more beautiful and more versatile. They, I bought two, are perfect. I wanted a variable light so a dimmable fixture was absolute. These offer a full range of illumination for daylight and evening. Easy assembly. They arrived in great condition due to smart packaging.

This is a perfect floor lamp- now I can see what I'm reading! Love the on/off/dimmer control- very smooth.
